The big update!
Hey!
So I have a bit a free time and I'm gonna use it to get as much stuff updated as possible. The pictures uploaded all crazy too, so sorry about that. >_< I'll try harder next time!
Lets start with Xmas 2008

So the holiday was long but enjoyable. If you look closely you'll see the exact moment in which I ran out of money and started buying people really strange gifts.

I didn't get my brother towels... that was mom. But i got him inflatable toast. No household is complete without inflatable toast.
Those jelly beans just happen to be the WORLDS most expensive jelly beans. (I think)

I don't know if Masa, a friend from Japan, expected gifts or not but we had some ready for him! I got him an MP3 player that has a radio and it can record the radio too! Pretty cool!
If you look closely you'll see the look of terror on my sisters face and she knows that Jimi gets to take that keyboard home. LOL
I'll post later the specifics of everything or just ask me about the pictures. lol. Its a funny story how we got Jimi to get excited about socks and underwear. (he should... he has YEARS of socks, underwear, flashlights, and the occasional jar of honey to come.)

OU lost!
I mean... I don't care who won or lost.. but thats what happened I guess. lol OU is my schools rival... I think, so I should be happy? Whatever~
But the party we had to watch the game was very entertaining. A lot of good friends showed up and I got to see Daniel and Amanda's baby Naomi again! :) she's so cute! Naomi is also a urine machine at the moment. lol
Anyway, just wanted to clarify on the intarwebs that I'm not angry at anyway, I was acting strange last night because I spent most of yesterday morning throwing up the 30+ cups of tea I had two days ago at tea time. It was worth the pain by the way. lol. But today I'm back in tip top shape. I'm about to hit the gym then the studio and then work. :) I hope today goes better than the rest of 2009.

2009!
Happy New Years!!
So far 2009 has sucked.
That being said I'm going to try to blog more this year. Maybe you can see why 2009 sucks so much or watch it get better. Who knows? I but I hope to get into soon! I've already started charging my camera.
A quick update: Important members of my family are dying and or severally damaged. :( I've started having strange daymares (if thats a word?). Within 20 ago I fell in love with two new kinds of tea. (Golden Buddha and Lotus Tea).
I feel a lot of new things are about to happen. Whether I want them too or not.
:: sighs :: Well I'm off to clean house before guests arrive.

Snowflake Choler
So... Where do I begin?
The semester has finally collapsed in on itself. I managed to make it out with a photo (literally) finish. I have two more classes left to teach at the Multi Arts Center. And I'm completely worn out. My hands ache a lot and my skin is dry and cracked. My feet are calloused and my back is filled with pain. But so far, its all been worth it. I ended the semester with a personal studio, a kick wheel (which I made) and an electric kiln on the way. I'd say I did okay.

My jobs have so far been okay, but at one... we have a little issue. Its one of those day crew night crew issues. Where the day crew has no idea what the night crew does so they assume the worst and vise versa. But the manager of the department (who obviously is the queen bee of the day crew) seems to use ridiculous means to try and prove a point. For example: I was just written up for not filling in a zone hole and checking it on the closing check list. So let me explain what filling a zone hole means. Its when we have a special table with books all over them for sale.
well if we run out of one, we have to replace it with another book so that the table looks full all the time. But, the book has to follow the sale, it can't just be a random book that we think will sell. So if you don't have anymore books to fill the holes you have to arrange whats there to even it out. So ... a zone hole can almost be any variable as long as the table is missing a book. It could also mean that if the books gone, you can keep the same amount of books on the table yet make it look like its not suppose to have another book. Does that makes sense to anyone?
Now for the closing checklist. This is a list we've had to mark off every night for the past year and a half I've worked at this book store. Its a simple list of chores and areas of interest that we are suppose to clean/arrange/straighten and then check off. Yet, we get in trouble if we clean an area then go check it off before going back to clean another area. They say that takes up to much time. So we do whats logical, close everything down the way we were trained (if you were lucky enough to get trained) and then check everything off the list. Does that not make sense to you? Well I check a box of a job that does itself and got in trouble for it.
This is how the Lich Queen runs her paper kingdom.

Unreal.
I'm appalled. Its hard to explain how unbelievably confused and angry I am right now. So I'll just explain what happened and let you figure it out for yourself.
Today I went to my sculpture class, since my teacher has okay'd my revised sculpture plans (which make my sculpture literally just a box) I have a lot of free time in the class. So I asked if I could either go to ceramics and work or work on my wood sculpture. After a rather embarrassing response, the professor sent me on my way to work on my wood sculpture.
My wood sculpture is a set of wooden rings glued together. I'm currently using an air dremel to remove the hard edges and to shape the piece.

An air dremel is like a flux shaft but its powered by compressed air. At the VAA ("the lab/studio") we hook it up to our air line from the building. Because I'm removing so much of the wood I'm using the roughest bit we have.
This isn't the bit I was using, but its similar. I was using one that looked like this but it wasn't smooth, its covered in metal chunks all with sharp edges. Anyway, it takes a long time to dremel the wood just how I need it, and because of the vibrations and the lengthy use my hands become sore and tire quickly. Which my goggles on and a dust mask protecting my mouth, I begin to dremel away. Going over the surface of the wood and the edges to make sure I can get the ridges that I want. The air dremel, when in use, makes a load whistling noise from the air escaping through the internal chambers. It sounds just like a dentists drill (as they are both forms of air powered rotary tools and pretty much the same thing). So I also put headphones in while I work.
While I was working on this woodsculpture I feel something hit my foot. I didn't think anything of it. Then a piece of clay hit my leg and another one collides into the side of the dremel tool. Which is then jerked out of my hand, but thankfully it didn't roll down either of my arms or legs. As that would have completely shredded the first few layers of skin. When I was in 3D foundations I had an air dremel jerk off a scultpure I was working on and roll up my thumb and over my right hand. It was terrible, and as its just a bunch of little abbrasions, the amount of them was were the real pain came from.
When I looked up to see who could have been so unaware what they were doing, the entire class was playing the "lets pretend we didn't see anything" game. Without saying anything I just cleaned up my mess and left class immediately.
Maybe i'm over reacting. But ... you just don't throw something at someone whose using a power tool. It doesn't matter what kind of power tool either. I don't know who threw the clay, or if it was several people, all I know is that they should have known better. Where's the common sense?
Am I wrong?

"leaving me no choice but to unlock the chamber"
Today seemed to be like every other day at least at work. I clocked in, and started. Because it was a game day the rush was going to be more intense than normal. It was so busy that it seemed as though every rush was hours long. But that didn't matter.
Shortly after a rush started, I was working as fast as I could to get people out of the store when I noticed someone looking at me.
The motions at work are so familiar that I can complete the transactions with out looking at the register. This gave me the opportunity to become inebriated through my eyes alone. The other end of the stare was a friend of mine. But something was different. His eyes, they were so strong, it terrified me.
Paralyzed.
Yet, my body kept helping customers. It took me 10 minutes and blurry vision to break free from it. But the enchantment wasn't for waste. We were talking with our eyes.
My mother raised me to be a strong person. Mentally and physically. Which is why I could hold back the tears that began to drip over my heart. A cold chill got me to look up.
He was standing right in front of me. Leaning on the register across from mine. He pulled back and prepared to toss his javelin. Another rush came and he was pushed away from me. I could relax.
several rushes later. The night had come to an end.
But he was still there. slightly farther away this time. But he was already prepare with his eyes again. I couldn't move an inch. My body completely paralyzed this time. He steps forward, it rattles the chamber of my heart.
Burning and swollen the chamber rumbles.
The pain and sadness melting and blending into the happiness was an awkwardness that cannot be describe, leaving me no choice but to unlock the chamber.
the blunt metal chamber slowly opens and breaks away. The chunks of metal looked more like stones as they fell. You see, the chamber around my heart has been shut for a long long time. Any amount of stress could have destroyed it. When the last piece fell away from my scorching heart I felt a coldness. a strength I hadn't felt in a long time. The javelin had pierced my heart. The cold metal ripping through one end, but on the on the other side was an explosion of roots. Roots to take in the two things you need for life, Nutrition and Love.
He spoke, I answered.
I died.
I was dead long enough for the strings to collide. Restarting the universe and bringing me back to the very moment I had died. It was as if I had never died at all.
I drew his shapes in my head. Over and over. I was use to the roots from the javelin, which had sprouted branches and leaves as it went into my heart.
He spoke again. The waves pushed the tree into my heart, roots and all. The tree became fuel for a spark.
The spark became a fire.
the fire burst into an inferno.
The inferno burned a pure white.
I had certainly died, and been reborn.
He went home. Shortly after that I also went home. I paraded home. Flanked by 100 deers, 8 yellow birds, 3 turtles, and one tiny green grasshopper.

And now I'm here. Back to myself.
Falling...
asleep.

Epiphanies
So, the semester ended with a strange explosion of ideas and a sour taste in my mouth. Mostly from when I checked my grades. Man, last semester was harsh.
As an artist, our greatest foe is the "artist funk", or when you can't get anything to come out right, or you just can't develop ideas at all. It's like that special way of seeing shuts down for repairs. Well last semester I was plagued with it. My artist eyes took a very long blink if you will. All ideas became a single strange of idea. Which I will scan and post later. But needless to say I was fucked in all of my classes. The solution for me? Introspection! Its painful at first, looking at your self. You see everything bad as well as good. And most of the time for me I encase things with the bad, so it took a while before I saw the good. But, once I carved away at the bad stuff the pain they brought was less and less. Then I discovered a wealth of good things, and I've been exploring them a lot lately. To my joy, this has cause several epiphanies and literally thousands of ideas for both my paintings and ceramics.
I'll have to go into this later tonight. I'm still cleaning house from the surprise (but very welcomed) party we had. :)

losing weight!
Hey,
Its been a long time since my last post but now I think I'll have time in the mornings to work on this thing. Today starts my new workout and nutrition routine. I figure it will take me a at least a month to get start to get to where I want to be.
I'm 5'11'' (I think! haha) and I'm about 180-95lbs. Which is the problem at hand. Its a big problem for me; for my self esteem and just for general health reasons. I'd like to get down to 155, but I also want to get a little bit more muscle mass so I imagine I'll get to about 160-70 but look much better. haha. Either way it's time to lose the weight and take back the insane amount of (as carson would say, chaotic evil) energy I use to have.
I'll post some pictures later... maybe a before and after picture! haha. (maybe we'll do that when I have the after picture, its so much easier to look at yourself when you know its what you USED to look like hahah).
Other than that I met a really nice guy who has extremely similar interest as me! (what are the odds?) haha. So I've been talking with him a lot lately and enjoying it.
As for my art, I've been jumping around ALL semester about what to do and where I was at in the art world. I had no idea as to what would happen! haha. It's a really long story so I'll try to post it tonight so I can see if I can get it all out of my system. But I do feel I have come full circle with JUST enough time left in the semester to make it out alive. :)
Well I'm off to make breakfast and head to the gym! Wish me luck!
Nathan

Holy Crap!
So! Its been a while... I haven't had much time to post anything due to a hectic school semester. Graduation is coming soon (like in a semester or two) and thats really fucking scaring me. there is so much I need to think about... so many things I have to do get into graduate school and so many places I have to apply to... if I had hair, I'd be pulling it out. But I'm not going to freak out, I know I can do it.. but still... Gya!
In the love department, I've destroyed myself, I've entered into the arena even though I knew I would be leaving in a nominal time. That being said, I regret to say I've discovered someone who i really like. SO, you can imagine how thats going.
On the arts, I was in a show the other day at the new gallery here in stillwater. They are going to have a few more shows while I'm here, so I'll do my best to enter in to all that I can. I sold a vase as the last show! I also had a drawing in the show for $500 but I priced it so high because I didn't really want to sell it... it has some nostalgic qualities.
My watercolors have been neglected lately... I've been having trouble working out a schedule that includes my ceramics and watercolor. Speaking of Ceramics, I don't throw for class anymore. I just couldn't take the hypocrisy of it. I was just tired of making something I love and then having someone tell me to change it for the better, then after following their directions exactly, only to have them punish me for the change. Really, there isn't a lot of people (the professor especially) who specialize in throwing. It's apparent in the students work, there is no traditional background, just a free for all that I think ends up in shallow designs. Its just to much for a student to not have ANY direction. Maybe I'm just bitching... But I'm fed up with it. So I will never turn in thrown ware ever again for this teacher.
On the watercolor side, I've announced my alliance to fantasy artist! haha, whatever that means. I'm going to be painting fantasy scenes, and themes. Who knows, maybe I'll spiral out of it and start doing something no one has ever seen before. Who knows right?
Well when I have more time I'll give you my spill on the russians, time travel, building a universe, and aerogels! haha Its pretty awesome stuff! (thanks Joseph)

I crushed her leg.
Today was kind of hectic. I woke up early to go to work so I would be allowed to take two lunch breaks and one would be 2 hours long. So I knew i would have to work my ass off at work today. Which is okay, I don't mind working hard and the work at hastings isn't all that stressful. The reason for the dual lunch breaks is due to the fact that my ceramics professor felt that it should be required to meet a visiting gallery artist. So, today, I got to meet Stan Welsh. He was pretty nice, I'm not a fan of his work in the least. Don't get me wrong, you can ask everyone, I gave him an honest chance, I even stayed for the entire lecture. I also spilled my friend Anna's drink all over her lap too. It was pretty horrible. I felt so bad, and was completely embarrassed. During most of the lecture I thought about why I haven't had any urge to make any art, or really, to make the art that my teachers want me to make. I'm pretty behind in my classes due to some personal stuff thats come upon me. I shall give you the tip of the iceberg:
My great Grandfather died, My mother had another Cancer scare (don't worry she's okay now!!) and next week I have a biopsy because my doctor thinks I might have cancer in my neck... Wouldnt you be stressed?? Aside from that, shits been peachy.
I'm currently reading Brian Jacques Redwall, a tale of clerical mice who overcome much trouble. Currently I'm on the first set of books (there are 19 sets I think , each with about 3 books inside them). Today I also bought three new books. Mercedes Lackey's Magic's Pawn, Magic's Promise, and Magic's Price. A three book series called "the Last Herald Mage" I've heard its really good. So, we'll see.
Lately, I think more and more about just being totally focused on my art and my creations and not to worry about other matters. Sometimes it seems hopeless. Like jumping in the white rapids of a raging river.

My love for Fantasy and Medieval has reclaimed a lot in my heart. Reading all these books and just thinking about life has caused such a renaissance of the Renaissance! I've sent off for a medieval cookbook; which I am desperately waiting for. I can only imagine the meatpies and goblets of wine! Mutton and Grayling! Oh it all sounds so wonderful and fantastic. All the breads and sauces, spices and flavors... I just can't wait for it to arrive.
Well, I should get to bed, I have work in a few hours. Ciao.

Starting The Day Any Other Way Would Be An Ignominious Way Of Starting A Day
So this morning at 8:30am I awoke in a quiet dream like state. My apartment looked as though it was filled with a thick sparkling substance, orange in color due to the rising sun and closed blinds I'm sure. It filled me with joy and comfort. However I didn't stay awake to enjoy it; I was lulled back to sleep. Later about 10:55 I rose to the soundtrack of SaGa Frontier. A new album I got yesterday.
I had a wonderful little breakfast today. Of cereal, toast and jam, and some wonderful exotic green tea! (Complements of Ms. Jade). Let me show you:
The breakfast started out with the toast getting so excited about the jam that it nearly hit the ceiling when it was done. As you can see it landed on top of the toaster. I in fact was so surprised by it I thought that I had already taken the toast out and laid it on top of the toaster. Either way it was a funny site to see in the morning. As the toast was preparing for take off I had placed my table (my drawing/painting table with a table cloth over it now). Got some cereal out and a few fig cakes for after breakfast to have with my tea. I haven't had a sit down breakfast in a long time, and I think I'll start having one every morning. Which means I have to wake u
p about 30 minutes before school starts. Which in theory isn't at all a bad thing, but can I do it? The tea I had was from a little shoppe here in town, a rather expensive one at that. The brand is called "Tea Forté" As you can see it comes in small silk pyramids made to sit in the bottom of your cup and steep. However, I have a deeper cup than they expected so I have to hang it from the side. Yet, great tea all the same. The one I had today was called "Green Tango" "A green tea with mango and sweet orange finale"
It was an all around good start.

ラボで働いた♪
Today I finally got to go out to my studio and get some work done. It was a really nice day, and heres why:
I started my day off with getting to sleep in! Which really made me feel good, because I didn't get off work the night before until 5:30am. The Sunday paper is always an adventure and right now we have all these new customers (almost 10 new every night!).
Either way, I slept in and then went to lunch with Jade. We went to 'Bills Catfish... Place'. Okay, I forget what it was called but its pretty good. However, the wait staff there is very strange. Either they are always new, or they have no skill at all with managing several tables at once. It was pretty amazing the things our waitress forgot to do. But after is was all said and awkwardly done the meal was great. I had the cajun chicken (grilled) and the shrimp (fried) with a salad and mashed potatoes. Jade had the lemon pepper grilled chicken. Its a quaint little restaurant. After that I headed out to the lab.
When I arrived at the lab I was pretty shocked to see that I had beat Jade there. This being really rare I called her to make sure she was okay.
Haha, its that rare that I was worried. She was okay, in fact she was doing some shopping! When she arrive at the lab she gave me a wonderful gift! I have been needing a new bag since my older one (a gift from my friend Gloria who bought it in Taiwan!) was ruined in a flood. I really like this bag mainly because it was a gift, and not just because I needed it, but because I know that Jade bought it because she knew it would make me feel better. (And she was right!) Jade is a really magnanimous person. I can't wait for school to start so I can really show off my new bag to all those other students who better not have the same bag! Well, even if they do, it wont be as special. ^__^;;
After the awarding was done, I began a slow day of mild productivity. I tried my hardest to work on as many things as I could and finish as many projects as I could before I had to go home and get ready for work. I feel that I did at least finish and create three really nice vessels today. I'll show you the pictures of them now:

Why The People Below Me Should Die (of natural causes, as soon as possible)
Every night this week, the people in the apartment below me have been playing LOUD, LOUD, LOUD rap music. Not that I don't like rap music, its just that i don't want to hear their horrible rap music every night from 9pm-1:30am. It really gets bothersome. I know that the family below me consist of an older man and woman, and lately I think their son (looks like hes in his 20s) has been living with them. I believe it is the son that is responsible for the horrible music. Also, this blue firebird has been showing up lately, and when its here this Hispanic girl seems to be floating around the apartments here. Once she knocked on my door (a lot...) and when I answered she laughed and said she had the wrong apartment. there are only 4 apartments here.. I fail to see how she could have made a mistake.. In that the party she was looking for was sitting outside their apartment. So, it is in my humble opinion that they should pass on by rushed natural causes. Like a bolide.
